The Thompson has perfect balance centered at the reel spool. A perfectly balanced rod enables you to achieve maximum leverage when casting and you don’t feel the downward pull of the rod. Equilibrium is created by the rear swing of the rod butt -- the weight going forward equals the weight going backward. You'll cast farther with less effort.
